LPMC was the first, and remains the oldest, unaffiliated concert choir in London with a current membership of approximately 40 singers.<\/p><p>Milestones in our history include winning the CBC Choral Competition Award, the recording of 9 CDs, premiering and recording many new works by Canadian composers such as Oliver Whitehead, Gerald Bales, Lydia Adams, and local musicians including Andrew Petrasiunas and Rod Culham. The choir has been led by some of Canada\u2019s finest conductors, including Brian Jackson, Howard Dyck, Ken Fleet, Dr. Vicki St. Pierre, Dr. Charlene Pauls and Markus Howard.<\/p><p>We have performed with Orchestra London\/London Symphonia many times, under the batons of Kevin Mallon, Ivars Taurins, Timothy Vernon and Uri Meyer.<\/p><p>Before the COVID pandemic, London Pro Musica Choir expanded its outreach program, singing in venues within as well as outside of London. The choir has raised funds for London\u2019s El Sistema music program for children, for a new hospice in Exeter, for church renovations at St. Mary\u2019s United Church, Huron Shores United Church and for First St. Andrews United Church.<\/p><p>The choir has also initiated ongoing collaborations with many local musicians at Western University and Fanshawe College, as well as local musical organizations such as Brassroots, Pride Chorus London, Canadian Celtic Choir, and with musicians from the wider musical community of Southwestern Ontario.<\/p><p>During the pandemic LPMC performed only once (November 25th, 2021 at First-St. Andrews United Church).\u00a0 LPMC carried on its tradition of working with local musicians both to accompany the performance, and in using our paid Section Leads as soloists.<\/p><p>Our first full season after the pandemic was 2022-23 and we welcomed Paul Grambo as our new Artistic Director.<\/p><p>Our 2023-24 Season has included an number of exciting community collaborations so far. We were honoured to sing with Brassroots in a \u201cBrass Night at the Proms\u201d concert on September 30, 2023. On November 5, 2023, London Pro Musica Choir members took part in the 10 Year Anniversary of \u201cWordsfest\u201d at Museum London: \u201c2023 James Reaney Memorial Lecture: The Beckworth Connection.\u201d On December 9, 2023 we teamed up with First-St. Andrews Choir and Strings for &#8220;Sing-along Messiah.&#8221; Then on Saturday, December 16, 2023 we performed a &#8220;Messiah Highlights&#8221; concert at St. Marys United Church in St. Marys.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our History The London Pro Musica Choir was founded in 1970 as a chamber choir, organized and run by its members.
